Tint that has bubbled, peeled or turned purple is old dyed film breaking down. The old film and the glue under it come off, the glass gets cleaned and polished, and new carbon or ceramic film goes on. Back glass is stripped carefully around the defroster lines.
That is usually cheap dyed film breaking down in the sun. The dye fades to purple and the adhesive lets go, which shows up as bubbles. Carbon and ceramic film do not fade that way.
No. New film cannot go over old film, so the old layer and its glue come off first. That is part of the re-tint job.
That is cheap dyed film failing. Carbon and ceramic film do not do that. If anything ever lifts or hazes, bring it back to the shop and we will check it out.
Carbon blocks a solid amount of heat for the money and never fades. Ceramic blocks noticeably more heat and glare at the same shade, so the cabin stays cooler without having to go darker.
