Ceramic film is built to block heat, not just to make the glass darker. It keeps the cabin noticeably cooler at the same shade as carbon, which matters in Pennsylvania, where the front windows have to stay at 70% light or clearer. There is no metal in it, so it does not interfere with phone, GPS or radio signal.
